Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has called upon leading Indian technology firms, including TCS, Infosys, and Wipro, to focus on the development of a mobile operating system tailored for India. During a recent address, Vaishnaw highlighted the importance of establishing a domestic alternative to existing global operating systems, which would not only enhance national security but also promote technological self-reliance.
The minister acknowledged the impressive contributions of these companies to the Indian IT landscape but stressed that the time has come for them to take on new challenges. He urged these firms to leverage their expertise and resources to innovate and create a mobile OS that caters specifically to the needs and preferences of Indian users.
By investing in this initiative, Vaishnaw believes that India can reduce its dependency on foreign technology and strengthen its position in the global tech arena. The development of a homegrown mobile operating system could also foster a more vibrant digital ecosystem, benefiting both consumers and businesses across the nation.
