De Portolla Middle School students are taking their creativity to the next level by building custom electric guitars in a groundbreaking technology class. Under the guidance of the esteemed Teacher of the Year, Kevin White, students are learning to blend engineering principles with musical artistry. This unique class not only teaches students about the mechanics of guitar construction but also allows them to express their individuality through design.
Each student is involved in the entire process, from selecting materials to assembling the final product. They gain hands-on experience with tools and techniques typically reserved for professional luthiers. The project fosters teamwork and problem-solving skills, as students collaborate to overcome challenges that arise during the building process.
The initiative has sparked enthusiasm among students, encouraging them to explore their passions for music and technology. As they strum the strings of their handmade guitars, they are not just creating instruments; they are forging a deeper connection between art and science, setting the stage for future innovations in both fields.
