Aristotle Capital Management has released its Core Equity Fund investor letter for the second quarter of 2026, offering a look at how the fund navigated a market that continues to be driven by artificial intelligence. The fund posted a return of 14.69 percent for the quarter, a solid result that nonetheless trailed the S&P 500 Index, which gained 15.20 percent over the same period. The gap, according to the letter, stems largely from the fact that market gains remain heavily concentrated in a small group of AI-related names.
One of the standout positions in the fund is Micron Technology, a company that has found itself at the center of a major shift in the memory chip industry. For years, memory was seen as a cyclical commodity business, with prices swinging wildly based on supply and demand. That dynamic is changing. The explosive growth of AI data centers and high-performance computing has created a sustained appetite for high-bandwidth memory and advanced DRAM products. Micron, as one of the few players capable of producing these cutting-edge chips, is now viewed less as a boom-and-bust supplier and more as a critical infrastructure provider.
The fund managers note that Micron's recent gains are not just about rising prices for existing products. The company has also been disciplined about capacity expansion, avoiding the kind of oversupply that crushed margins in past downturns. With AI workloads requiring ever larger amounts of memory, the demand curve looks more durable than in previous cycles. While the stock has already moved up significantly, the letter suggests that the structural shift in the industry may still have room to play out, especially as AI applications move from training models to running them at scale.
